"Sharon has been treating me for a back problem - I had a car accident years ago which left one of the vertebrae damaged.

At times I am in great pain and having the treatment at first eased the pain and then eradicated it.

There are so many other benefits too. I have found that it is worth continuing with treatments."

Medical Advice

Craniosacral Therapy is intended to complement, not replace the relationship you have with your medical practitioner. If you have or suspect you may have a health problem please see your doctor. Never disregard medical advice or delay in seeking it because of anything you have read on this website.

You will lie fully clothed on a treatment table and experience the very light touch of the therapist. There is no manipulation or massage involved.

Craniosacral therapy is different for everyone. Sensations that may be felt are heat, a tingling, gentle pulsings, a feeling of increased gravity or a sense of profound relaxation.

The therapy is led by you, the patient. Your body will set the pace of the work so you will remain in control and be able to integrate the changes that occur.

Since it is your body that sets the priorities you may find the reason that you came for the treatment is not what changes first. A series of treatments may need to be considered to receive the full cumulative benefits of craniosacral therapy.

What patients say...

What can I expect during a session?

In response to physical knocks and/or emotional stress, the body’s tissues contract. Sometimes particularly when the shock is severe or occurs within an emotional situation, the tissues may stay contracted.

Any stresses, strains tensions or traumas that have been stored in the body in this way will restrict the body’s functioning and could give rise to problems over the years. The effects can be both physical (such as back pain, migraine or digestive disorders) and/or emotional (such as anxiety and depression).

Restrictions in the body’s functioning show up in a way that craniosacral motion is expressed. The therapist’s training allows them to feel this subtle motion in the body and use it to identify areas where there is congestion or restriction.

In this way it is possible to identify the probable origin of a problem. Then using the hands to reflect back to the body the pattern it is holding, the therapist provides an opportunity for the body to let go of its restrictive pattern and return to an easier mode of functioning. This happens at a deep unconscious level within the body.
